Classroom Environment

Our program is housed within Adat Shalom Synagogue, though Bridges Development Center operates as a non-religious, inclusive community organization and welcomes families of all faiths and identities.

Our classrooms are intentionally small, supportive, and thoughtfully designed to meet the unique needs of neurodivergent young children.

Each classroom serves a maximum of 9 children, with a 3:1 child-to-adult ratio, ensuring that every child is truly known, supported, and understood. Our team includes an early childhood teacher, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, and a paraprofessional, working collaboratively throughout the day to support communication, regulation, play, and learning in a classroom setting- not in isolation.

Our classroom environment is flexible and responsive, allowing children to move, explore, rest, and engage in ways that support their individual sensory and emotional needs.

Everything in our space — from the layout to the materials to the staffing model is designed with one goal in mind: to create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, regulated, and supported, so learning and connection can naturally grow.

In addition to our classroom, children have access to a dedicated sensory room, thoughtfully designed to support regulation, sensory exploration, and emotional reset when needed. (Photos coming soon.) Children also enjoy time on our beautiful, expansive, fully fenced playground, which offers space for movement, fresh air, and play in a safe, supportive outdoor environment.
