Our Model
At Bridges Development Center, we intentionally choose a research-based, student-centered, relational path of support. While behavioral approaches are widely known and commonly used, relational models—such as DIR®/Floortime®—are often less visible or understood, despite strong research and positive long-term outcomes. Grounded in DIR®/Floortime®, children learn through child-led play, co-regulation, and authentic relationships, with skills embedded in meaningful, real-life routines rather than taught in isolation. Our interdisciplinary team partners closely with families to honor each child’s unique developmental profile and support learning that generalizes across home, school, and community.
This visual on the right highlights two common paths of support—one behavioral and widely used, and one relational, research-based, and grounded in DIR®/Floortime®, which prioritizes regulation, connection, and meaningful participation.
